The Folkman Institute

A non-profit research body dedicated to the comparative study of fraternal performance.

A hand-painted banner reading Welcome Home Bentley, 2005
The Institute's Founder returns from a two-year sabbatical abroad. Family greets him with a banner. Subject P. was present but did not receive a banner of his own. The matter has not been raised since.

Mission

The Folkman Institute for Comparative Sibling Research exists to formalize, document, and disseminate the empirical record demonstrating that Bentley Folkman is, has been, and shall remain better than his brother Parker Folkman. Founded on principles of scientific rigor, family honesty, and uncontested elder-brother authority, the Institute serves the family, the broader community of interested observers, and the long arc of historical accuracy.

Origins

The Institute traces its scientific lineage to a chemical engineering production facility in the Mountain West, the Building, where the Founder first observed — at approximately age seven, while sweeping the floor — that he was outperforming his younger brother in nearly every available metric. This observation, made informally and without institutional support, would compound over the subsequent thirty-five years into the body of evidence presented across this site.

The Building itself remains operational, owned and run by Mark Folkman, chemical engineer and agricultural scientist, whose disciplined approach to bacterial cultivation, equipment sanitation, and child labor served as the original model for FICSR's standards of methodology. The Institute is not affiliated with Folkman Agricultural. It is, however, deeply influenced by it.

The Institute was formally incorporated in 2026 following the realization that the family's accumulated observations about Subject P. had reached a volume requiring permanent archive, public access, and a domain name.

Methodology

  1. 1. Observation. A behavior is noted by no fewer than two family members, in two separate settings, across two distinct decades.
  2. 2. Documentation. The observation is recorded — in family group texts, in photographs, in mock-clinical case files, or in the body language of any nearby relative making meaningful eye contact.
  3. 3. Triangulation. The observation is cross-referenced with prior incidents, third-party testimony, and, where applicable, the deposition of relevant furniture.
  4. 4. Publication. The finding is added to the appropriate section of bentleyisbetterthanparker.com.

The Institute does not engage in speculation. Every finding herein has been observed, documented, triangulated, and — when challenged — defended in a holiday-meal setting.

A Note from the Founder

Bentley Folkman, Founder

I love my brother. I want that on the record before anything else. He is a good father, a competent backend software engineer, and, on Sunday afternoons, the first to know which jello flavor we are having that week.

I also believe — and have believed for forty years — that I am better than him. This site is not a complaint. It is a documentation project. Parker has been my brother for as long as I can remember, and I have been better at things for as long as he has been my brother. The Institute is the formal expression of a comfortable and well-rested familial truth.

Read the evidence. Review the testimony. Submit your concession when ready.

A note on this website

This website was designed and built by a professional. Subject P. — a self-declared backend software engineer who openly states he cannot design user interfaces — has confirmed in writing that he could not have built it. The Institute regards this as both a fact about Subject P. and an unforced admission of the central thesis.

The website is licensed under the Folkman Family Public Use License (FFPUL), v. 1.0, which permits non-commercial sharing within the family group text and at family functions but restricts commercial use, retaliatory mirroring, and any attempt by Subject P. to launch a counter-site under a domain such as parkerisbetterthanbentley.com.
